Cable sticking (Solved) was created by AJ WH Ranger
Hey guys I need some advice. Last night I was cutting the grass at my new neighbors house and shut off the tractor to say Hi. When I got back to the tractor to start it back up both my choke and throttle cables were frozen.?

What can cause this?
How can it be fixed?

So I was able to free up the throttle cable but the choke was still stuck. The tractor ran for about 45 minutes after that then it just died, to never start again.
Im thinking the choke may have been on for that amount of time and possible fouled out the plug or something.

I need your expertise. Please Help.. :hiding

Sounds like a good place to start AJ. That's a pretty weird scenario.

I would take a look at the carb, something is out of position or broken.

AJ are the cable sheaths plastic or wound wire? If plastic the engine heat could have deformed and melted them. If they are wound wire I'd look for a physical problem such as something kinked. It's unusual for both cables to freeze while in operation. Pics would help and good luck.

First, Thanks everyone for pitching in with suggestions.

Here is an Update.

I found the problem(s)

First one, both of the cables were seized up :waiting weird I know. A WD-40 bath and some coaxing did the trick for those.
Second one, this is the one that bothers me the most and took the longest to figure out. I would imagine it would take anyone a few minutes to troubleshoot their way to this but, the kill switch I had wired up had apparently broke internally therefore shorting it out to ground regardless of switch position. :beat (swear words)

So now I am back to mowing with the 1968 Lawn Ranger with no hood so I have a way to short the plug to ground so I can shut it down. :rolling3

Glad you found it AJ. So it looks like 3 things went pretty much at once? Doesn't get much weirder than that. :whew
