Carb help/ advice ? was created by kudzu
Having a heck of a time trying to get the carb on 10 hp techumseh adjusted :angry2 , I think it's just too far gone. The main jet will not adjust, it is either rough or not running at all and the other will only run when it is all the way in :angry . I have removed the jets and sprayed well with carb cleaner, that helped a little. Should I try to re build the #$%$&^ thing or just go ahead and re place it. :waiting

Do a little more than just spray the jets; wipe them down and also stick a thin paperclip in the holes to clean those out, plus a blast of air -- those little hard deposits can be like plugs, got to get them out too.

Glen is right, sometimes that stuff is pretty tough to get out. :)

Thanks, I have sprayed, and wiped clean the jets, also sprayed the ports and shot a little air in there. I will try the paper clip poke and see if that helps. Thanks, I'll keep you posted.

Looks like Glen and Geno beat me to it. But after you get it put back together, set the high speed needle 1 1/2 turns out and the low speed 1 to 1 1/4 out. This will give you a good starting point and adjust from there. Hope this helps.

That's usually the best way to fix a Tecky carb, especially as cheap as they are. :thumb1

Ha.. AJ, hope I didn't order the wrong one. Took a long time to find the part number for that carb but I think I finally did. I really had a problem with one company as I was trying to find the part number. They just weren't helpful and did not want to take the time. Got some very immature e mails from them, finally told them that I'd find someone who would help me, and that I did not need them, they told me that they did not like the quote I have on my e mail and wanted me to take my business elsewhere. That was okay with me. It takes all kinds I guess.
