Picking up a single stage from Geno, for the Raider 12 or my 314h, however I have a lead on a two stage that looks to be well preserved. Any chance you guys are willing to educate me on what to look for on the two stage, with regard to potential problems? I have seen a video of it running on the tractor, and it seems to blow snow correctly and so forth. Not sure how "loud" they should be and such, but it does look very nice and is complete. Thanks for any advice!

Biggest concern with a 2 stage, if they ever break, parts. They were made by a company in Canada that has been out of business for many years. Next concern, a 520 to run it. :)

I picked up a two stage a few months ago. From what I see so far they are straight forward to work on and most parts are easy to get. The weak point seem to be the auger shaft bearings and impeller. The bearings are bronze inserts and mine were badly worn. I will replace them with cam lock ball bearings. From all the posts and pictures I've seen, the impeller seems to get beat up. Take a close look there. The impeller shaft bearing is a cam lock bearing and easily replaced.

So I would check the following carefully.

1. Auger condition
2. Auger shaft bearings.
3. Impeller
4. Impeller bearing, chain and sprocket
5. Drive pulley and idlers.
6. Auger shaft gear box. (they can get a bit expensive to rebuild and some new parts are NLA)

In general, the two stage is a beast and not too hard to rebuild. If its loosey-goosey figure a couple of hundred and a couple of weeks to rebuild.
