Doing a little more stump work, tree trimming and some pipe work. The chainsaw chains were all sharpened up last night and 1 more bad stump got tackled today. Chains got sharpened up yet again today and ready for the next round. Only 1 more easy one (behind the shop) and 1 more really bad one left, it's to the far left in the pic, about 6' tall and full of fence wire.
I'm gonna try to finish the relocating of the small LP tank I have for the gas logs in the house tomorrow too, made the pipes with the Rigid threader today. I traded some work for it in 97 after I built the new shop here from an HVAC guy getting out of the gas furnace business. It was $500 worth of work for it but I thought it was pretty cheap for a complete electric Rigid setup with lots of dies at the time, especially what it would have cost me to have someone else pipe the shop, then add on from time to time, etc, etc... It's one of the best things I ever had, it did all of the lines in the shop among other things for me + dad.

Good trade! The dies alone are worth the labor. Have used a setup like that many times and it makes quick work of pipe fitting.

Took some time off and just piddled like a normal person for the Labor Day weekend, felt pretty good...
Today started the rearrange the parking lot again, I think I do it about twice a year. I have 2 empty trailers taking up space so they may as well be loaded to actually free up some space. I have a good selection of years, hydros, 8 speeds, body styles, etc out there that I usually grab parts off of from time to time so the trailers will end up staying in the lot, they are easy enough to move with the forklift. I'm hoping to get most of it done tomorrow.
I've also decided to sell the 2 WH trucks, another project I'll prob never finish...

I went out to tackle the "easy" stump behind the shop and it's done but wasn't easy for sure... It had wire in it too and I'm not even sure what kind of tree it was. I remember the one next to it I cut down last year I think was like it and when trying to split it it couldn't be done with an axe. For lack of better terms it was real stringy and wouldn't split clean even on the big tractor splitter I have.
Anyway, it's all done, I just got done sharpening all the chains again and the saws are ready to go again on the last big bad one. It's gonna be a real pain but the end is at least in sight...

Good news GT, another thing off your list.
I crossed a few more off of my list end of last week and this morning. There's a new bar + chain on my small chainsaw and a new bar + chain set will be here tomorrow for my big one. I hope to finish up the last stump on my list this year tomorrow or this Wed if all goes right.
The Kubota came out last weekend so the small porch on the S side that was on the house is all gone and cleaned up, and the LP gas line for the gas logs is rerouted over there. The Sebring convertible I've been parting out and Escort are sold and were both picked up this morning leaving 2 more large spots in the parking lot.
The front porch steps are something I'm still thinking about whether to replace them or do away with them and just make another rail in that spot. Either way, deliberating on doing away with the sidewalk as well that goes to the old front entry that could use a little repair. It used to go to the mailbox but I moved the mailbox over near the driveway as soon as I bought the place in '95 and don't use the front door for anything really. The only thing the steps do is make a little better curb appeal but with the cost of materials now I'm not sure whether I should mess with them or not...

I would go with railing and walk removal. That would provide adequate curb appeal and reduce maintenance in your later years.

Thanks for your thoughts GT.
I went out about 1PM after everything dried out and just now got done. Mind you I had already spent several hours cutting the outer root growth out and below ground level. I had 8 sharpened chains, new bars on each saw, and thought it would go pretty good, but no mater how you look at it chains just won't cut rocks lol. Seems I only encounter this problem with Hackberry trees, for some reason they grow around rocks instead of pushing them out. All the pieces in the truck now is what I have to go through to get to the rocks to get them out.
Anyway, the stump is well below ground and all that's left is to take the big part of the stump away and fill the hole with some dirt tomorrow. At least the hardest job for this year is done.

Stumps are gone and hauled away, holes are filled with dirt, and one more thing off the list.
Someone flipped the switch and it looks like Fall is here. When I finished the last stump it was 96 a 3 days ago, then it was 74 and super nice yesterday, then it was 46 last night and gonna be a high of 70 today... This morning is getting the humidifier on the house heat pump cleaned up and turning toward cold weather and getting ready to turn on the heat. I hate the cold but it is what it is, I thought I may have a break between the Summer and Fall jobs but I guess not lol.
