Getting ready to restore my 856 I received from my girlfriend for my birthday. It’s going to be a surprise to her so everyone keep quiet. Have the engine pulled off now and all torn down ready for a rebuild. Will get more pictures of the engine torn down today probably. Looks like it won’t be too bad of a rebuild. New piston and rings, valves, gasket set and some other odds and ends. My goal today is to get the engine degreased and possibly painted if I can get paint today. Then send it off to my buddy more honing and other work it needs. I’ll try to get pictures when my hands aren’t covered in grease. If I can figure it out I’ll set up a poll on if I should paint the engine red with black bits or paint engine block black and other bits red.

Paint on the block is done. Got masking removed looks pretty good. Working on pan now. Got it all degreased and cleaned. Painted and drying now. Next will be moving on to engine tins. After that will paint the belt guard and some other bits red. More pics to come this weekend on that stuff.

Not the best paint job but I’m ok with it. Red really looks good.
